Apple: Evolution of a website
John Kendrick switched to Apple:
After 20 years as a PC trainer and consultant, in 2006 I switched to Macs and OS X. Since that time, I have purchased three iMacs, a MacBook Pro, Airport Extreme and Express, and of course an iPhone. And I’ve helped my entire family switch to Macs.
Read my first takes on the switch in an article I wrote at the time. If you’re asking yourself if its time for you to switch, this article might help in answering the question.
There is a .pdf at the link you might want to take a look at.
Apple profile of company Get Satisfaction:
We’re definitely an all-Mac operation at Get Satisfaction. Everyone here drank the Apple Kool-Aid a long time ago. We all proudly sport Mac laptops, we all have iPhones, and we’ve developed everything at Get Satisfaction using Apple technology. It’s almost comical when a phone rings (or even vibrates) in our office. Everyone immediately reaches for their iPhone. I think we need to institute a mandatory “unique ringtone” policy. Seriously.
From Zemlin’s blog (he isn’t praising Apple, but Linux, but I thought this was hilarious):
Apple. This prison has the highest security of them all. It is a singular prison with extraordinarily high walls that govern almost every aspect of what you do. They decide what you listen to, what type of cell you get, and it is ruled over by a ruthless warden named Steve Jobs. And despite all that, it is great!
Each cell is a plush luxury suite overlooking the ocean. You can get movies ordered to your room all day and the music selection is great. Your cell mates are cool hipsters and they have great parties that last all night long. It is almost like staying at a five star hotel with the only catch being that you can’t ever leave.
Microsoft. These prison facilities are horrible. This is the largest, most difficult prison to escape from in the world but the security is horrible. Everyone is stealing each other’s data and you are sharing a cell with an angry 300 pound piece of malware. The prison warden, Steve Ballmer, walks around often claiming he wants a kinder gentler and more open prison, but everyone knows he is lying.
Hypnotically encased iMacs trick unsuspecting computer users into
accepting DarwinismHowever, these propagandists aren’t just targeting the young. Take for
example Apple Computers, makers of the popular Macintosh line of
computers. The real operating system hiding under the newest version of
the Macintosh operating system (MacOS X) is called… Darwin! That’s
right, new Macs are based on Darwinism! While they currently don’t
advertise this fact to consumers, it is well known among the computer
elite, who are mostly Atheists and Pagans. Furthermore, the Darwin OS is
released under an “Open Source” license, which is just another name for
Communism. They try to hide all of this under a facade of shiny,
“lickable” buttons, but the truth has finally come out: Apple Computers
promote Godless Darwinism and Communism. But is this really such a shock? Lets look for a moment at Apple
Computers. Founded by long haired hippies, this company has consistently
supported 60’s counter-cultural “values”2. But there are even darker
undertones to this company than most are aware of. Consider the name of
the company and its logo: an apple with a bite taken out of it. This is
clearly a reference to the Fall, when Adam and Eve were tempted with an
apple3 by the serpent. It is now Apple Computers offering us temptation,
thereby aligning themselves with the forces of darkness4.This company is well known for its cult-like following. It isn’t much of
a stretch to say that it is a cult. Consider co-founder and leader Steve
Jobs’ constant exhortation through advertising (i.e. mind control) that
its followers should “think different”. We have to ask ourselves: “think
different than whom or what?” The disturbing answer is that they want us
to think different than our Christian upbringing, to reject all the
values that we have been taught and to heed not the message of the Lord
Jesus Christ!Given the now obvious anti-Christian and cultish nature of Apple
Computers, is it any wonder that they have decided to base their newest
operating system on Darwinism? This just reaffirms the position that
Darwinism is an inherently anti-Christian philosophy spread through
propaganda and subliminal trickery, not a science as its brainwashed
followers would have us believe.
Umm okay. [dizzle backs slowly away]
Michael also asks, Is Apple a cult?
I was reading about MacWorld and the rabid fanatics there. I have pondered before this question. Now you can read my conclusion.
From: http://www.cultinformation.org.uk/definit.html
Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics:
1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma
4. It believes ‘the end justifies the means’ in order to solicit funds, recruit people
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or societyLet’s run through the numbers shall we?
1) Yep, see http://www.macevangelist.com/
2) Yep, see http://cult-of-mac.utu.fi/
3) Yep, All hail Steve!
4) Yep, check with Apple legal on this one
5) Unless you own stock, YepLooks like a cult to me.
I have admitted Apple is cult. A non-religious one. Even though that post is stoopid.
Critical mass has been reached:
There is a generational change coming in consumer and corporate computing and Apple is the company that will introduce it. Technologically, the changes are happening now, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the next models of the Apple range exploiting more advanced chips than the current set of Intel multicore chips, although it isn’t even certain which direction Apple will take and who its chip partner(s) will be.
Apple’s OS X is streets ahead of Windows now – it’s a common platform that runs on IBM’s Power chip, the ARM chip (on the iPhone) and the Intel chip on more recent Macs. It’s pretty portable, but there again it does have a microkernel and the OS is nicely split between kernel, base OS (BSD Unix) and GUI. It’s likely that Apple will be better able to leverage changing hardware capabilities with this vehicle while its competitors struggle – along with Microsoft – to keep up.
From where I’m sitting, it looks very much like the future belongs to Apple….
