“It’s the end of the world as we know it, and Steve Jobs feels fine. With the U.S. Federal Reserve now predicting a recession that will last well into next year–and others predicting much worse–sales of ammunition, spam and gold coins are surging,” Brian Caulfield reports for Forbes. “Oh yeah, so are sales of the Apple chief’s Macintosh computers.”
Reading that Steve Jobs shops for furniture like we do. It took us 4 years to choose the right dining table, but it’s perfect.
“There is only one Steve Jobs and there is only one Apple. You’re never going to build something as cool as Steve.” – Calacanis, is.gd/1l1C

Six reasons OSX will not go mainstream
Reason #1: Steve Jobs. To become a major competitor you must remain strong for the foreseeable future. Many people don’t like to buy into a product that doesn’t have a long life ahead of it. Regardless of how well OSX runs, how cool it looks, it can all be attributed back to Steve Jobs; he is the master of sales and marketing. Much of Apple’s recent success can be attributed to his skills. Steve Jobs will not live nor want to work forever. When Steve passes the buck to the next person in line will his horde of followers accept this?
May I please see your mind-reader wherein you know Jobs won’t want to work forever? (i.e. for the rest of his natural life) I believe he does. I can’t imagine him retiring. And will I, as a member of said horde, accept a successor? Maybe not. No doubt, Jobs is inherently part of Apple.
And FWIW I don’t want OSX to go mainstream. Then loud-mouth punks like Pisstar might actually be able to force Apple to help them compete because they can’t invent something themselves. Being the smaller guy does have its advantages. Do you get the idea that I don’t think very highly of Psystar? Understatement of the year.
